Frequently asked questions

How Do I Pick A Coffee?

Each of our coffees has a description, what we call "tasting notes", listed on the coffee's page. These tasting notes will include some flavor information and a roast level. While we tend to prefer drinking coffees on the lighter end of the spectrum -- which highlights the properties of the beans better -- coffees from the larger chains tend to be pretty dark. We encourage you to both trust your instincts and take some risks. For clarity's sake, roast level 3 is what we'll call a "full medium"; a 1 would be a light roast. A 5 would be the darkest roast we offer.

How Do I Get The Most Out Of My Coffee?

Our coffees tend to thrive with a medium grind size and a water temperature of around 200F (93c). This is fairly consistent with what most at-home coffee machines produce. We also recommend using filtered water. Coffee is 98% water so the better the water is, the better the coffee is. If you want to go deeper, visit the learning section.

Roast Dates vs. Best By Dates: What's The Difference?

You'll notice that our bags don't have Roast Dates on them but instead use Best By dates. This can be a little controversial in the coffee world but we promise the coffee is fresh. On average, our coffee is roasted every 3 days and is normally shipped out in 2-3 days from the time you place your order. We often recommend resting the coffee for a few days but it'll also be ready to go as soon as it gets to you!

Where Does The Charitable Money Go?

All of the charitable money we set aside (18+%) will be going to certain Colorado-based organizations that are set up to help with food insecurity across the state. We have not yet specified which organization(s) yet because Ben and I are still researching them as a part of his learning journey. We will update this section and make more announcements when we've come to a decision and will include our reasoning.

Purpose in every pour

We believe good coffee should do more than wake you up — it should lift someone else up. Every cup has a cause, and every decision has a purpose.

Raise the Change

We don’t just want to be the change — we want to raise it.That means taking action toward helping the next generation be better by building solutions and inspiring others to do the same.

learn as we grow

We’re not perfect, and that’s kind of the point. This father–son project is about learning — how business works, how giving works, how growth works.
